The Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2025, a refreshed compact SUV offering the 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with Smart Hybrid technology, has arrived in India just ahead of the festive buying season. The launch is accompanied by significant discount incentives as the manufacturer looks to strengthen its hold in the crowded compact SUV market.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2025 enters the market as a value-oriented hybrid-capable compact SUV, combining a familiar 1.5 L engine with Smart Hybrid technology and modern connectivity features. With strong service support, competitive pricing and a large dealer network, it remains a logical choice for value-conscious buyers in India’s compact SUV segment.
That said, evolving consumer expectations and intensifying competition mean that the Brezza’s success is not guaranteed by brand alone. Prospective buyers should compare variant features, check actual discount availability at dealerships, and evaluate waiting periods before committing.
Engine, powertrain and hybrid technology
The Brezza 2025 is equipped with a 1,462 cc (1.46 litre) K-Series petrol engine, which is carried over from the previous generation but now offered with a mild-hybrid system under the “Smart Hybrid” banner. According to the manufacturer’s site, the vehicle features “Smart Hybrid Technology” along with the 1.5 L engine.
Depending on fuel type and transmission, the model offers three powertrain options:
- 1.5 L petrol manual
- 1.5 L petrol automatic with mild hybrid
- 1.5 L CNG manual variant. (V3Cars)
In petrol mode the claimed fuel efficiency is around 19.8 kmpl (ARAI) for the automatic variant; for the CNG variant, the figure is about 25.5 km/kg per manufacturer data. This reinforces Maruti Suzuki’s aim to deliver improved economy without shifting entirely to full-electric powertrains.
As R.C. Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., noted in a corporate statement, “Smart Hybrid Technology offers Indian consumers the efficiency benefits of hybridisation without the premium price-tag” (company press briefing, September 2025).

Features, connectivity and safety enhancements
The 2025 Brezza retains its bold, upright SUV styling, featuring LED projector head-lamps, dual-tone paint options, and a refreshed front fascia. Inside the cabin it offers enhanced connectivity: a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging (in higher trims), and a telematics suite (“Suzuki Connect”) providing vehicle tracking and driving reports.
Safety is emphasised with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill-Hold Assist as standard on automatic variants. Boot space stands at 328 litres, with ground clearance of around 198 mm — figures that support both urban and light off-road usability.
Pricing, discounts and market strategy
On the pricing front, the ex-showroom range starts at ₹8.26 lakh for the base manual petrol variant and goes up to approximately ₹13.01 lakh for the high-end petrol automatic variant (Delhi pricing basis).
Importantly, the company has passed through benefits of the revised GST slab (from 28% to 18% on small cars) resulting in price reductions up to ₹1.2 lakh on models including the Brezza. Dealership sources suggest combined festive offers plus exchange bonuses currently bring net savings of ₹45,000 to ₹85,000, depending on variant and region.
According to senior auto-market analyst Rajesh Goenka of IHS Markit India, “Consumers view the hybrid badge as a bridge between petrol and full-EV models — a step toward lower running costs without charging anxiety.”
Competitive landscape and consumer demand
The compact SUV segment in India is fiercely competitive. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), SUVs now account for over half of passenger vehicle sales. Maruti Suzuki continues to rely on the Brezza, among other models, to maintain leadership. June 2025 sales data show the Brezza sold 14,507 units, marking a 10 % year-on-year increase, even as many rivals saw declines.
However, September 2025 data show Brezza dropped out of the top 5 most-sold SUVs in its segment, indicating shifting buyer preferences despite the GST-led price cuts.
Competitors such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet are now offering stronger features, newer powertrains (including full-hybrids), and more aggressive discounting. Maruti’s strategic focus remains on high volumes and value for money rather than premium positioning.
After-sales, service network and ownership costs
Maruti Suzuki’s nationwide service network remains a strong selling point, especially for buyers in smaller cities and towns. The approximate 5-year service cost for the Brezza petrol variant is estimated at around ₹7,214, according to independent aggregators.

Warranty covers 3 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first. Given India’s rising fuel prices and periodic engine maintenance concerns, the mild-hybrid system offers a pragmatic way for buyers to reduce running costs without committing to full EV infrastructure.

Outlook: Hybrid mobility in India’s transition era
India’s electric vehicle push continues under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric vehicles (FAME-II) scheme and corporate mandates, but full-EV adoption remains constrained by infrastructure and cost. In this context, mild-hybrid vehicles like the Brezza serve as a transitional solution, offering improved efficiency while leveraging the existing petrol infrastructure.
Industry experts predict that mild-hybrid adoption will grow strongly over the next two years, especially as battery costs remain elevated and charging networks develop unevenly. Maruti Suzuki has publicly confirmed it plans to expand its hybrid portfolio, with upcoming models expected to feature “strong-hybrid systems” developed in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation.
For buyers, the current festive-season discount cycle and GST benefits make the 2025 Brezza a timely proposition. However, real-world fuel savings, waiting periods, and variant availability should be assessed carefully.
